UST Lining

If a previously lined tank coating fails inspection, we are permitted to remove the existing coating and completely reline the tank (as long as the tank is structurally sound). If this is required, we supply the tank owner with a new, 10-year guarantee. There are occasions when we are asked to line tanks that have not been previously lined. This happens when a catholically protected tank has leaked or an owner is concerned that a fiberglass tank may not be compatible with ethanol/methanol blends. Also, some companies want the added insurance that interior lining provides and hires us to line tanks that have been previously catholically protected. We use only state-approved coatings for complete relining.

Our tank lining process is designed for corrosion protection and leak prevention and is typically used to protect storage tanks, process vessels, secondary containment structures, concrete process areas and floors against continuous or intermittent chemical attack and degradation. Tank Tech has lined thousands of below and above ground storage tanks for over 20 years and continues to offer the best service and highest quality of work at an affordable price. Our lining material and application process come with a 10 year warranty. Addition information is available by contacting one of our many knowledgeable salesmen on the contact page.

The work executed by Tank Tech is governed by standards authorized by API 1631 and NLPA 631. These standards provide minimum recommendations for the interior lining of existing steel and fiberglass reinforced plastic underground tanks and periodic inspection of steel underground tanks used for the storage of petroleum-based motor fuels and middle distillates. These recommendations include procedures to be followed and operating conditions to be maintained by contractors, workers and engineers preparing, inspecting, testing and lining the interiors of existing underground storage tanks. Requirements for vapor-freeing tanks, removing sediment and cleaning interior surfaces of steel and fiberglass tanks as well as guidelines to identify tanks that are suitable for lining, are also included. All work associated with the interior lining and periodic inspection of underground storage tanks shall be accomplished in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including applicable environmental and safety requirements.

The methods described in this standard are applicable to steel and fiberglass-reinforced plastic tanks used for the storage of petroleum-based motor fuels and middle distillates. The procedures are applicable to tanks installed in typical retail service station outlets but may also be used for tanks installed at other types of facilities.
